Editorial Policy
This page explains how OccupyHiFi works: how we research, how we review, what we disclose, and where the lines are.
What we cover
Headphones and personal audio — wireless, wired, open-back, closed-back, noise-cancelling, gaming, studio, and audiophile models, plus the technology behind them. We also publish buying guides, comparisons, explainers, and verified industry news.
How products are researched
Every product article starts from primary sources: the manufacturer’s official specifications, manuals, and product pages. Where useful, we consult reputable published measurements and established audio publications. We do not use retailer listings as primary sources, and we do not repeat specifications we cannot trace.
When sources disagree — and they do, more often than you’d expect — we say so in the article rather than silently picking one.
Tested vs. research-based articles
This distinction is the backbone of the site. We publish three kinds of product coverage:
- Tested reviews — the product was in our hands. The review states what was
- Research-based overviews — compiled from official specs and attributed
- Updated reviews — earlier articles revised with new information
tested, for how long, and under what conditions.

Specifications and prices
Specifications are verified against official sources at the time of writing. Prices are always date-stamped — a price is a snapshot, never a promise. We re-check important pages on a 30–90 day cycle and update where the facts changed.
Corrections
Errors get fixed, not buried. Substantive corrections are noted in the article with the date. See the Corrections Policy for the full process.
Commercial relationships

News standards
We publish news only when it is genuinely newsworthy and verifiable: product launches, firmware updates with documented changes, confirmed specifications. Rumors are labeled as rumors or not published. Dates and claims are checked before anything goes live.
AI and automation
Research assistance may be used in preparing articles. Every factual claim is checked by a human editor before publication, and nothing is published on autopilot. Our standards on fabrication apply regardless of which tools were involved in drafting.
